Few actors have carried heavier expectations than Abhishek Bachchan, son of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. His debut Refugee (2000) was followed by a bruising run of flops, but 2004 changed everything: the slick cop of Dhoom and the wounded idealist of Mani Ratnam's Yuva revealed a genuine actor, and he reeled off three straight Filmfare Best Supporting Actor wins. Guru (2007), as an ambition-drunk tycoon modelled on India's industrial titans, remains his signature lead performance.
After hits like Bunty Aur Babli, Dostana and the Dhoom sequels, Bachchan found a rewarding second act in streaming and mid-scale drama — Breathe: Into the Shadows, Ludo, Dasvi — and earned some of his best notices for Ghoomer and I Want to Talk (2024), which finally brought him the Filmfare Best Actor award. He is married to Aishwarya Rai, with whom he has a daughter.
