About The Theft

The case involves the disappearance of 66 hard disks from the Tiger Baby Films office, the production banner co-founded by Zoya Akhtar and filmmaker Reema Kagti. As per reports, the missing hard drives contained highly sensitive production data linked to films, OTT projects, advertisements, and archival material. The police believe the stolen devices included raw footage, edited scenes, post-production backups, and unreleased project files.

The value of the stolen storage devices and data loss is estimated to be between Rs 12-13 lakh. The missing data reportedly included content of popular projects like Made in Heaven and Ghost Stories. The matter allegedly came to light on May 21 after staff members could not find several hard disks needed for ongoing work and project access. After an internal inspection, damaged storage boxes and multiple empty hard disk cases were discovered inside the office premises.

The company’s inventory listed 119 hard disks in total, out of which 66 were reportedly found missing. The stolen drives are believed to have storage capacities between 16TB and 72TB.

An official complaint was reportedly filed against Mehjabeen Mushtaq Shaikh. He works as the executive assistant and HR administrator at Tiger Baby Digital LLP. The Bandra police registered an FIR against Mohammad Shahid Azim Khan and Ritesh Suresh Shah. Both the accused have been arrested and remanded to police custody till May 29.
