Storyline
A sequel to the record-breaking blockbuster Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai continues the story of super-spies Tiger (Salman Khan) and Zoya (Katrina Kaif) eight years later.
Thespian Girish Karnad, who plays Tiger's boss and mentor, brings Salman Khan's character back for a mission.
Tiger, who is living his retired life in Austria with wife Zoya (Pakistani undercover agent played by Katrina), enters the film fighting off a pack of wolves as he goes camping with his son.
The mission takes the couple to a section of Iraq occupied by terrorist group ISC, who have taken around 40 Indian and Pakistani nurses hostage. How Tiger fights the terrorists with Zoya is something one needs to watch out for.
Lets Take a look at the critics' review here:
IB Times - "Director Ali Abbas Zafar has done a fabulous job with the camera and the story doesn't bore you even for a second. Some spectacular action sequences and that touch of humour amidst some serious scenes will leave a smile on your face."
A mostly honest film. A must-watch, as this film is the last big release of 2017. Whistle-worthy!
NDTV - As for the rest of us, ordinary mortals who usually seek stimuli less extraordinary, Tiger Zinda Hai, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, is a spy thriller that could have done with more sense and subtlety. But these attributes appear to be the last thing on the mind of the invincible, chest-thumping RAW agent-protagonist and his mates as they, teaming up with ISI operatives (yes, that's how woolly-headed it gets), take on their deadly common foes for the sake of aman and insaniyat.
Financial Express - If you are a Bhai fan, you should definitely not give this one a miss. For others, it is a one-time watch.
Deccan Chronicle - He smoothly takes 'Ek Tha Tiger' franchise ahead by telling a real story and inserting a whole lot of drama and thrill. The film also touches upon relationships between India and Pakistan but subtly. The biggest hiccup of the film is its length. It could have been easily chopped by 15-20 minutes. Also, towards the climax, Katrina suddenly vanishes from the film, and the whole focus shifts as to how Salman will save the nurses. In fact, pre-interval, the sudden entry of Katrina is quite melodramatic.
The Indian Express - Only once in a while, the film gives in and provides us a killing which sobers us up, but very quickly it’s back to the base, with Bhai taking over, and everyone– including Nurse Poorna (Goenka, who plays Parvathy’s role), and Zoya (Kaif plays her straight, made up to appear unmade and dishevelled for the most part, in keeping with the let’s –keep-everything-on-the-table spirit)—making way for him. But you can see she enjoys kicking butt: you wish she had more to do.
Business Standard - Tiger Zinda Hai" is a 2 ½ hour homage to Salman Khan's superstardom. In the cinema of the Southern superstars like Rajinikanth or even Mammoothy(see his latest release Masterpiece where in almost every frame the star is eulogized)it is common practice to extol the virtues of the Man Of the moment, to the extent that the other members of the cast appear to be afterthoughts. And since that happens quite often, we are frequently asked to hold our horses, while the compliments flow and the speed breakers are served up. Once those are out of the way TZH is a lot of fun to watch.
