International Film Festival of India Cief Jury Sujoy Ghosh Resigns After Nude and Sexy Durga removed
Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh has resigned as the chief of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) after the controversy over removing two films – S Durga and Nude from the festival.
The director confirmed the news to Indian express but didn’t elaborate the reason behind this decision.
The jury had nominated Nude as the opening film, where Sujoy had termed it as a strong feminist film. He also praised S Durga for its strong message about women safety. But The information and broadcasting ministry overruled the decision of IFFI jury and removed Marathi film Nude and Malayalam film from the 48th edition of this festival.
The jury had submitted the list to the ministry on September 20-21, but the line was made public, where these two films were missing from the list. S Durga director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan and Nude director Ravi Jadhav said that they are shocked and disappointed over the removal of their films from the Panorama section.
Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh is known for films like Kahaani and Aladdin.
